‘Homes under the Hammer’ success for businessman Ian

Pride Park businessman Ian Hodgkinson has starred in an episode of the popular BBC morning television programme ‘Homes Under the Hammer’.

Television cameras followed Ian as he bid and bought at auction in Derby a two-bedroom terraced house in Ilkeston in need of substantial refurbishment.

The television crew filmed the house and returned after Ian had gutted the property and given it a major makeover. In a four-week blitz, just about everything in the house was replaced - from the front door to the roof.

Programme presenter Martin Roberts subsequently did a lengthy interview with Ian at the house, which is now part of the Hodgkinson property portfolio.

The programme was screened at the end of January and attracted a lot of praise.

“People keep tell me that I should give up building and start television presenting,” said Ian, tongue firmly in his cheek.

It wasn't the first time that Ian, pictured centre with Martin Roberts and the television crew, has found himself featured on the small screen.

In recent years he has appeared with Big Brother winner Craig Phillips in the Sky television series ‘Renovation Creation’ in a programme documenting the makeover of a Victorian house in Liverpool, and with the BBC's Diarmuid Gavan when he produced the Art House Garden in Nottingham.
